as he was known, appeared at Centralia High
School in the 1914-1915 season, the same
year as Head Coach A.L.
his four years at CHS were over (the 1914
through 1918 seasons) he led the basketball
team to a combined record of 81-25 and a
state title (1918).
His senior year (1918) he scored 34 points in one
game and was chosen to the All-State tourney
team as center. Coach Trout referred
to him as a tremendous rebounder and
mentioned him often to his teams that
followed at CHS.
